The Modernaires are celebrating over70 years in show business. They had their beginning as a Trio in Buffalo, New York in 1935. Hal Dickinson, Chuck Goldstein and Bill Conway became a quartet when Ralph Brewster joined the group. They sang with the Ozzie Nelson, Fred Waring, Paul Whiteman Bands, and their big break came when the legendary Glenn Millerasked them to join his orchestra in 1939.
In 1941 Paula Kelly joined the group and they recorded some ot their most memorable songs---"Juke Box Saturday Night", "Chattanooga Choo Choo","Serenade in Blue". "Kalamazoo", Moonlight Cocktails", and countless others. Perfidia & In the Mood plays on this page.
Hal Dickinson and Paula Kelly married and their daughters are continuing "The Modernaires" tradition to the present day.
